Many travelers hear about our Ocean Reef Resorts vacation rentals from others who have booked fantastic homes, cottages, and condominiums through us for vacations along the sugary shoreline of Northwest Florida's Emerald Coast. This is not surprising since we have been providing fine rental accommodations for family vacations and exciting beach reunions for many years. However, some newcomers who are just now learning about this idyllic tropical paradise may stumble across another resort destination with a similar name as ours. For those welcome newcomers, here is the difference between the two.
The Ocean Reef Club is actually very far away from us. It is located in Key Largo, which serves as the gateway to the Florida Keys, just south of Miami. This place was established back in 1955 as a private country club when they opened their first nine-hole golf course. Now there are two distinctly different eighteen-hole championship golf courses called The Dolphin and Hammock fairways. The Dolphin Golf Course is a 6,600-yard par 71 course that meanders past coconut palms, mahogany trees, and other exotic tropical landscaping. The Hammock course has 6,100 yards that cross through parts of a wildlife sanctuary with mangrove and tropical hardwood hammocks, which also is a par 71. Private initiation fees currently start at $11,500 for a Social Membership and $215,000 for Equity Owners with monthly dues of $275.
Besides golf, the Ocean Reef Club also has a marina for yachts, some restaurants with bars, a clubhouse, a cultural conference center, a tennis complex, a fitness center, a spa, and even a private airport. They also provide rental accommodations at the Ocean Reef Inn with elegantly appointed rooms or suites, private homes, and condo rentals. One and two-bedroom properties have a three-night minimum stay while three or more bedroom properties have a five-night minimum. Most club members or visitors come from the upper Midwest or Northeast.
Ocean Reef Resorts is located in Destin on the Florida Panhandle, with additional offices nearby in Grayton Beach, and Seacrest Beach. Literally, generations of families have stayed at our fine privately owned vacation rental properties for almost 40 years, creating magical memories with wonderful times at the beach. We represent hundreds of privately owned vacation rental properties that extend from Destin to Miramar Beach, down along Scenic 30A, and on over into Panama City Beach. This special area is known as the Emerald Coast since the dazzling gulf waters glow in glittering variations of this jeweled color. The bright sugary beaches are composed of pure white quartz crystal, pulverized by eons of wave action after being shaved off the Appalachian Mountains tops by glaciers during the last Ice Age. Most visitors here are from the southeast since our location is only a five-hour drive from cities like Atlanta. "Southern Living Magazine" has named Destin as the Best Family Vacation Destination year after year, and the beaches receive constant acclaim from many others for being the most beautiful in the nation. Numerous new airline connections with nonstop flights in recent years to nearby airports have accelerated interest and growth.
Ocean Reef Resorts welcomes guests by providing highly hospitable vacation rental properties that come with all different styles, sizes, and types of accommodations. They range from magnificent Mediterranean villas on the beach to charming "Old Florida" styled cottages to residential towers that overlook the gulf's gorgeous jewel-toned waters. Many are in world-class exclusively gated settings like the Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort that sprawls across 2,400 acres of lushly landscaped forested grounds dotted with natural lagoons that go from the white sugar shoreline over to the beautiful bay. Luxury residential towers overlook the gulf while other condominiums and grand homes are found throughout the resort, many of which border the four championship golf courses located here. Sandestin is also home to the enchanting Village of Baytowne Wharf, whose design was inspired by the charming architecture found in the New Orleans French Quarter. This pristine Disneyesque version includes a wide array of restaurants, friendly bars with live music, specialty shops, various family amusements, open-air concerts, seasonal festivals, a yacht marina, and a long pier that features awesome summer sunsets over the bay. The upscale Sandestin Town Center of Grand Boulevard also offers fine restaurants with bars, upscale clothiers, fashion boutiques, galleries, a movie theater, and a few fun festivals.
Scenic 30A includes a number of newer picture-perfect coastal villages like Santa Rosa Beach, Watercolor, Seaside, Watersound, Alys Beach, Seacrest Beach, Rosemary Beach, and Inlet Beach on the way over to Panama City Beach. This eighteen-mile route parallels the gorgeous gulf passing sugary dunes, thousands of acres of preserved forests, exotic coastal dune lake treasures, and outstanding state beach parks. Each village has its own stylish personality with many single-family homes, restaurants, beach bars, and specialty shops. A few of them also feature superb seasonal festivals and open-air amphitheater concerts.

Destin itself is home to the largest private charter fishing fleet in North America and is known as "The World's Luckiest Fishing Village," which is its original claim to fame. Its history goes back over 150 years because it has the closest coastal proximity to deep water adventures on the entire Gulf of Mexico with access to a huge cornucopia of fish. HarborWalk Village was established on the Destin Marina in recent times. It features a golden Americana styled setting with dockside restaurants, bars with rollicking entertainment, specialty shops, free concerts, a wide variety of festivals, and vibrant seasonal firework displays. Visitors enjoy charter fishing trips, watersport or pontoon boat rentals, sunset cruises, dolphin sightseeing excursions, and even a treasure hunt adventure aboard a replica of a mast sail pirate ship with a costumed crew. Our Ocean Reef Resorts guests receive special reduced rates for many of these delights. Complimentary discounts are also provided to our guests for play on some of the area's championship golf courses and a giant waterpark known as Big Kahuna's. A popular place to stay in this part of Destin is called Holiday Isle, which is not an island at all but a peninsula offshore that's surrounded by the harbor, the East Pass connection between the gulf and bay as well as the gorgeous gulf. This privileged location is minutes away from HarborWalk Village with beach houses, harbor front villas, and luxury residential condominiums.
