Many of our Ocean Reef Resorts guests have discovered our treasure of luxurious condo rentals in the gated community of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin's Miramar Beach. Shortly after passing the guard gate on the gulf side of Sandestin you see an awesome architectural display in the distance. It is quite an unexpected sight since it lies beyond the palm lined entry that meanders casually beside the fairways of a championship golf course (one of four that extends across the resort). Suddenly, up ahead right on the beach, you experience the spectacular sight of the luxury towers that soar above the scenery and look out upon the emerald hued waters of the gulf. They include Beachside Towers I and II as well as Westwinds. Nearby is another high-rise that rises above the rolling lagoon spattered fairways called Luau I.
The shining white exterior walls of the twin buildings that comprise Beachside I and Beachside II sit side by side. Each one both mirrors and compliments the other with step like levels that soar up to twenty stories tall. The pools at Beachside are both next to a boardwalk that provides easy access to the beach. They overlook sand dunes that are covered with sea oats that gently sway in the wind. They seem to be majestically choreographed by the gulf breezes. Beachside I even has a bubbling Hot Tub that shares these same views and there are picnic areas with grills where you may enjoy creating your own beachside barbeque feast. Besides the beach and swimming pool there is also a Fitness Center on site to work off extra calories or just increase your appetite to enjoy even more savory seafood. The iconic Elephant Walk Restaurant sits adjacent to the beach here and is an architectural masterpiece of its own since the entire structure resembles a multi-story giant green roofed gazebo. Fantastic gourmet fare is available at this popular restaurant that also offers vivid views of the swimming pool patio and gorgeous gulf.
Nearby, Westwinds sits on the beach next to Sandestin's western most boundary, so this building is also appropriately named. Not only do the balconies of this twenty story beachside building provide breezes from the west but many of the units also offer spectacular views of the area's heavenly sunsets. At Westwinds there is a long lagoon shaped swimming pool that is surrounded by a forest of palm trees. This setting creates a beautiful tropical oasis that looks out over the beach with a manmade creek that flows down from a splashing waterfall. There is also a secluded hot tub for adult pleasure as well as a kiddies' pool for children. A poolside Tiki Bar is located conveniently close by for all types of refreshments as well as favorite adult libations. Westwinds also has a Fitness Center overlooking the lagoon pool.
Luau I is the newest luxury condominium tower on the gulf side of Sandestin. This modern high-rise sits high upon a dune with close views of the beach and fairways. There is an open Observation Deck on its uppermost level which takes full advantage of this locale. Three hundred and sixty degree views may be seen here which includes a full expanse of the beautiful beach, dazzling gulf and the gorgeous grounds of Sandestin itself. The chic architectural design was inspired by the kind of awesome towers one might see in Singapore. It is also just a short leisurely stroll to the main beach access point next to the Elephant Walk. The dune top level has an expansive patio sun deck that is bordered by palm trees and other tropical plantings. It surrounds a large fresh water pool that also looks like a lagoon and even has an island in its center. Luau also has a soothing outdoor Hot Tub and a small pool for the kids. A full Fitness Facility is on site as well.
No matter where you decide to stay on the beach side of Sandestin, the views of the gulf are awesome with ever changing colors that range from lime Peridot to dark Emerald green. Often times the water is "swimming pool clear" and you can see fish swimming below. This part of Sandestin is just west of Topsail State Beach Preserve with its protected twenty foot tall dunes that extend for miles along the shore towards the east. It is the perfect place to hike, jog or take a romantic walk enjoying the beauty of nature's solace in relative seclusion. Many days you can see dolphins frolicking in the clear, clean waters beyond.
On the bay side of Sandestin which is just minutes away from the gulf we have a number of fine distinctive vacation rentals available including a three bedroom residence at prestigious Turnberry Villas. This community is located within walking distance of the wonderful adult and family friendly Village of Baytowne Wharf. Here you may find delightful diversions for every age since this clean safe Disneyesque version of the French Quarter in New Orleans has an abundance of restaurants, lively bars, retail boutiques and fun amusements. Free musical concerts and firework displays are a weekly occurrence during the summer. Seasonal festivals of all kinds occur year round. A long wharf extends out into the Choctawhatchee waters from Baytowne where many visitors go to try their luck at fishing or for the visual pleasure of watching a sensational sunset across the bay. Turnberry Villas itself sits beside a stocked freshwater lake that extends around the boundary of the property along with the Baytowne Golf Course. Besides the other amenities, this is a golfer's delight since the club house is a short distance away across a charming wooden walkway. Turnberry Villas also has a private community pool nearby and accesses to professional tennis courts are also available.
