Everybody loves Jet Skis – and that’s a fact! The social engagement on this article proved that the larger the Jet Ski, the better. This blog post takes us into the world of the largest Jet Ski in the world, which just happens to be located right here in Destin. This custom-crafted Jet Ski, dubbed the Hydrojet, is the best way to explore the watery world of the shimmering, blue-green Gulf. While it looks like your typical Jet Ski, this classy ride can accommodate up to 28 passengers. Much more than your average two-seater Jet Ski, that’s for sure! It features three rows of seats with cushioned benches and handlebars, so you get the real Jet Ski feel while skimming over those smooth waves. Adventure seekers board the Hydrojet at HarborWalk Village, before cruising through the “No Wake” zone and into the Gulf. From your seat on the Hydrojet, you get to experience the Gulf in all its glory – from frolicking dolphins and gliding sea turtles to stunning fireworks displays over the water during the sunset cruise. Next time you’re in Destin, be sure to take a ride on the largest Jet Ski in the world!
This blog post goes out to all the avid fishermen out there. On June 28, three lucky fishermen caught a 350 lb. Goliath Grouper, proving that, yes, Destin is the world’s luckiest fishing village! When the Louisiana visitors came to Destin, they were hoping for a fun and memorable vacation. What they didn’t know was that they would have the experience of a lifetime. They boarded the 24-foot Silver King charter boat and sailed out to waters measuring about 75 feet deep, hoping to catch some snapper. After catching a snapper with all of its scales stripped off, they knew something bigger was probably out there. They threw the line in again, hooking a monster Goliath Grouper. The trio reeled it in, but not without a fight that lasted nearly 45 minutes. By the time they reeled the Grouper in, the fishermen were soaked, panting, and smiling from ear-to-ear. What an experience! Because Goliath Grouper are a protected species, the group released the beast while it was still in the water, but not without first snapping a photo of their momentous triumph! Talk about an incredible Destin vacation, and a good story to boot. If you want to try your luck at hooking a big fish in Destin, be sure to book your adventure the next time you are in the area!
Southern food and southern hospitality in the most beautiful place on earth? Sign us up! When Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen in Destin opened earlier this year, it’s no wonder everyone was stoked. Announcing the opening of Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen, this blog post brought excitement to everyone familiar with the Gulf Coast and Paula Deen’s cooking. Serving savory southern comfort food in the charming Destin Commons town center, Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen would immediately become a favorite restaurant for both locals and visitors. Mouthwatering menu items ranged from “Grandmamma Paul’s Fried Green Tomatoes” to “Shore is Good Seafood Dip.” Unfortunately, Paula Deen’s in Destin closed last month; however, a closure statement issued in November stated that considerations would be made to possibly reopen the restaurant next spring. Here’s hoping that’s the case!
The popularity of this blog post proves that beach lovers are drawn to the magnificent white sandy shores that are unique to Destin and the Emerald Coast. It also goes to show that our visitors are keenly interested in what makes the sand so flawless. So, what does make these Northwest Florida beaches so soft and white? The answer actually lies hundreds of miles north in the Appalachian Mountains. Our shimmering shores are comprised of tiny bits of quartz crystals, which have been washed from the Appalachian Mountains and carried down to the coast along the rivers over the years. And guess what – that process is still happening today! Because of this process, our shores remain pristine, providing incredible views and drawing visitors from all around the world. The next time you bury your toes in the snow-white sand, remember the marvelous geologic process that has created this perfect paradise. Thank you, nature!
Aaaand…we’ve made it to our number one blog post of 2019! Everyone loves a good tiki bar, but a floating tiki bar cruise is even better. Cruisin’ Tikis Destin is a floating tiki bar cruise that allows its passengers to sit back, relax, and enjoy the day. It combines all the best of Destin – stunning Gulf views, relaxed vacation vibes, and a good drink. The ten-sided vessel features a thatched tiki hut surrounded by bar stools. As a BYOB affair, passengers can bring their favorite drinks (and even snacks). A Bluetooth stereo system is provided so that you can move to your own groove. In order for everyone to truly enjoy everything the Gulf has to offer, the tiki bar also anchors at different locations for passengers to take a saltwater dip. Of course, the fun doesn’t stop there. Cruisin’ Tikis Destin offers a variety of cruise packages, which include a Sunset Tiki Bar Cruise, Harbor Lights Cruise, Harbor Cruise, and a Three-Hour Crab Island Sandbar Cruise. Pick the one that sounds the most appealing to you and get ready to have a blast – and a splash!
