Dune Allen Beach Vacation Rentals

Scenic Highway 30A begins about two miles east of Sandestin off the Emerald Coast Parkway. The road jogs straight down towards the Gulf of Mexico where it then curves around Stallworth Lake and runs along the shore's edge all the way through South Walton to Rosemary Beach. The curve in the road marks the location of Dune Allen Beach, a small enclave of residential single-family and multi-family vacation homes some of which have been around for decades. Originally, Dune Allen Beach was home to workers from all over who settled here in the late 1800s to work in the lumber plantations.

Dune Allen Beach is a small residential vacation community that serves as the western gateway to the idyllic heavenly world of Scenic 30A. It’s located on a narrow isthmus nestled beside the bright, beautiful beach, Oyster Lake, Allen Lake, and Stalworth Lake next to the Topsail Hill forest preserve. These Coastal Dune Lakes are a rare precious treasure and found in hardly any other place on the planet. Creek-like tributaries intermittently ebb and flow with the changing tides across the sugary white sandy dunes that border the gulf. These exotic lakes provide a natural habitat that supports an abundant array of fish and wildlife due to their exotic mix of artisan spring-fed and salted waters.

The Topsail Hill Preserve State Park covers 1,640 pristine forested acres that border the western edge of Dune Allen. It is named for the towering crystalline white dunes that run alongside the gulf and resemble the main sails of a tall ship from out in the gulf. You can easily cross a cola-colored creek that flows to and from the gulf at Stallworth Lake for a stroll almost three miles down the beach in relatively serene isolation. If you wish to hike through the Old Growth forest interiors of this park, the main entrance is nearby, right off 30A. Trails meander through these expansive woodlands around the coastal dune lakes of Campbell and Morris. Here you may enjoy catching some fish while viewing the huge amount of waterfowl and wildlife around you. These vast, totally unspoiled forests have an enchanting, almost primeval look and provide quite a unique setting for a fun outdoor adventure.

Surprisingly enough, Dune Allen’s seemingly remote locale is only minutes away from popular restaurants, friendly bars with live music, grocery stores, wine shops, and shopping adventures. It is only about ten minutes east of the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, which features delightful amusements, dining, drinking, and shopping excursions at the charming Village of Baytowne Wharf as well as swank Grand Boulevard.

The Santa Rosa Beach village center of Gulf Place is less than five minutes away. It includes restaurants with casual bars, a caterer, a wine outlet, a coffee shop, fashion boutiques, specialty shops, and galleries. A grassy palm-lined amphitheater in its center provides a perfect place to enjoy live outdoor musical concerts, a variety of art shows, and fun festivals that are held throughout the year.
