Perched lakefront in Shipwatch, one of Destin's most exclusive gulf-front gated communities, rests an impressive coastal-style vacation home. Located steps away from the beach access boardwalk, there are no roads to cross to access 400 linear feet of wide, uncrowded private white sand beach. This luxurious 2,700 sq. ft. 5-bedroom, 4.5 bath home will host up to 15 guests comfortably. Gorgeous coastal-style interiors with all new furnishings include 3 master bedrooms with private baths and balconies, and two custom bunkrooms sleeping 6 and 3, all with their own TVs. Gourmet kitchen features a French door refrigerator with an ice maker and extra-large island that accommodates serving and seating, in addition to a dining table for eight and outdoor seating. Family room features entertainment center with 60" LED Smart TV, and tasteful large sectional and swivel chairs. Outdoor amenities include a seasonally heated splash pool with built in seating, a heated outdoor shower, a propane grill, and a large deck for entertaining and sunbathing. These amenities overlook a beautiful lake with abounding with turtles, fish and ducks that kids will enjoy feeding right off the deck.

Conveniently located one mile west of Sandestin resort, this beautiful home is within walking distance of Silver Sands Premium Outlet stores, several restaurants, and Winn-Dixie grocery store. Sidewalks along Scenic Gulf Drive provide bike riding with gulf views and easy trips to more stores and restaurants. Seven golf courses, including the golf courses of Sandestin, Seascape, Regatta Bay, and Emerald Bay are located within 3 miles. Shopping, dining and family entertainment at Destin Commons outdoor-concept mall, The Village of Baytowne Wharf, and Harborwalk Village are 15 minutes away or less. Charter fishing, water sports, putt-putt golf, bowling and a water park are also a short drive away.

First Floor: Large open living area, custom kitchen, dining room, queen master suite with lake views and private bathroom, spacious lakefront deck with splash pool.

Second Floor: King master suite with large bathroom and garden tub, additional king master suite with private bathroom, bunk room with a full bunk as well as a twin bunk with shared bathroom, additional bunk room with full/twin bunk, and a laundry room.

*add $50.00 per day to heat pool (available Oct-April if needed)

Allotted parking for three cars at the house. Please ask a reservationist about additional parking.

No wedding or events allowed per the HOA

Seasonal beach chair service is provided complimentary March through October. This includes two chairs and one umbrella set up daily from 9 AM - 5 PM.

Tents and canopies are not allowed on the beach.

This home and our whole experience with y’all was our absolute favorite!

Our family of ten has taken a beach vacation every year the past 10 years. Normally we go to Gulf Shores. We wanted clear water so ventured further, and we will never go back to Gulf Shores!! We hope to return to the Gritz Carlton again! We loved the quiet community right on the beach, the beach chair and umbrella service and the house! It was so well stocked for us and when we had an issue with the oven, someone from your company called within minutes and walked us through fixing it. This was a 5 STAR vacation! Thank you Ocean Reef!

Beautiful home and steps to the beach

We stayed at the Grits and had a great time. It is wonderfully decorated and our entire group had lots of room. Shipwatch is located directly on a private beach and the house was steps from the beach, the kids loved this, no roads to cross or a golf cart to rent. We used all 5 bedrooms. The deck is huge and we enjoyed the small pool. We will be back next year.

Awesome home and so close to the beach.

We loved the Grits and it was the perfect place for our 3 families. It was decorated very well and comfy at the same time. The home is literally 50 steps to the beach. It is so nice that they set up the beach chairs and umbrella for you. The large kitchen and deck was great for cooking in. No need for a golf cart here. The restaurants and shopping were close by and everything is walking distance including the grocery store. It was great we were able to walk to the Surf Hut on the beach for dinner. We will definitely stay here again.

Favorite beach rental to date

This was our best stay after many years of renting in Destin. We liked being in a private neighborhood instead of a condo. Shipwatch beach is only 300 feet from the house and is much less crowded than beaches from surrounding condos. Great upscale home, great location, beautiful beach. Loved having beach chairs and umbrella waiting for us on the beach and being able to park in the home’s garage!

Easy rental process. Nice house great layout. Easy beach access and no giant beach crowds during a VERY busy week. Great beach chair set up Sofa and chairs could use replacement but other than that house was very nice.

Awesome location

Location of this home is hard to beat. Can be out the door and on the beach in 1 minute. We walked to Silvers Sands outlets, Winn Dixie, Surf Hut and Austen’s and rode bikes along Old 98 to Dairy Queen. Home has classy beach décor that looks like it’s out of Southern Living. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you would need for large groups. Having private pool and grill on the deck was great. Upstairs screened porch was heaven for peaceful morning cup of coffee and working on laptop and reading away from the kids. Everyone got what they wanted out of this house.

Perfect place for kids

This was our second time staying in The Grits Carlton. Love this home. The set-up with three masters with their own baths and two bunkrooms for kids make it perfect for our multi-family group. We love that there are no roads to cross to get to the beach and our kids can come back and forth from the beach to the house on their own. Everyone loved having their own TVs in each room. Kids spent as much time in the splash pool on the deck as they did on the beach. Feeding the turtles in the pond off the deck was super special. House is beautifully decorated and bedrooms are very roomy. Will definitely be back.

A private pool is included with this home - but no hot tub. The Grits Carlton is about a minute walk from the beach, with no major roads to cross as it's in a small gated community.

Do you have bikes, a ping pong table, beach chairs?

The Grits Carlton comes with a private pool and complimentary seasonal beach service, which includes two beach chairs and one umbrella with your stay. You are welcome to rent bicycles from a local vendor during your stay. The Grits Carlton doesn't have a ping pong table or complimentary bicycles. But don't worry, as an incentive for booking with Ocean Reef Resorts, you can use your Reef Rewards to rent bicycles at a discounted rate through our affiliate program. There are a lot of other rewards available, too!
