SandCastles by the Sea

SandCastles by the Sea is a residential neighborhood on Scenic 30A in the enchanting coastal village of Blue Mountain Beach. It includes nine single-family homes on Sandcastle Court with Old Florida-styled exteriors and private swimming pools. Four townhome buildings adjoin it near the gulf side on Blue Mountain Road. They are two stories tall with breezy balconies off open living areas and share a large community pool. The single-family rental homes include three to four bedrooms which accommodate up to fourteen happy beach-going guests. The townhomes have three bedrooms and can sleep up to eight guests. These residences are just a short two or three-minute stroll away from the village beach access.

Blue Mountain Beach was named by early Spanish explorers who spotted what they thought were “blue mountains” flanked by a bright white “beach.” They were far off the coast to avoid possible attacks from natives while attempting to map the area. The name stuck. What they were actually seeing was the tall dunes adorned with blue Lupine flowers beside the beautiful beach. It is understandable since Blue Mountain Beach does have the highest elevation along the entire gulf coast!

This mostly residential coastal village features a charming, almost Bohemian-type atmosphere and is home to some local artists. It does have a few popular local restaurants with friendly bars, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, a wonderful bakery, and Walton County’s oldest Health Food Store. They offer organic produce, smoothies, homeopathic remedies, Tupelo honey, scented soaps, candles, and massage therapy.

This wonderful Blue Mountain Beach locale is centered on Scenic 30A minutes away from the idyllic lifestyle this area offers. The nearby Santa Rosa Beach village center of Gulf Place features a grass lawn amphitheater bordering Royal Palms. It is a focal point for live concerts during different times of the year. They also host art and wine shows as well as fun festivals. Gulf Place includes several restaurants, friendly beach bars, fashion boutiques, specialty shops, galleries, a coffee shop, and a salon. It is a popular destination, with Santa Rosa Beach recently named one of the top five favorite towns in the nation by Travel and Leisure Magazine.
