Edgewater Beach Resort, at the far eastern edge of Scenic Gulf Drive in beautiful Miramar Beach, is truly an awesome sight to behold. Towering above the ever changing, jewel toned Gulf water's edge, this monumental landmark was inspired by the design of a luxury hotel that is situated on the French Riviera. Our "Southern" Riviera duplicate is a stunning piece of work and an architectural treasure. Like the original, Edgewater's design rises up in step like form at each level, going from three stories tall at one end to nineteen stories in height at the other. At the end of each tier is a large, open, uncovered terraced balcony complete with vines that cascade over the sides. These plantings also extend along the side balconies, creating an effect that in some ways may be reminiscent of a 21st century version of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon! The entire crescent shaped building, curves around the tropical, lagoon type swimming pools below. As you view this splendid structure from Scenic Gulf Drive, it looks like a large, multi-decked luxury ocean liner has just arrived and decided to dock at this particularly beautiful part of the beach. The design provides a spectacular, up lighted image after nightfall since the decorative white lights glow around the curves of this "ship" on every tier.
The Edgewater beach itself has a long row of vibrant blue umbrellas with chairs that extends ribbon like across the bright, white sand. You never want to be on the beach without wearing your sun glasses. Due to the dazzling bright sun reflected upon the quartz crystal sands, here they are considered a necessity rather than a designer fashion statement. However, most people take pride in wearing them for both reasons! The Gulf front boundaries of this private resort oasis extend east to west with over 420 linear feet of beach. That's almost one and one half football fields in length to put it into another perspective. This provides an expansive, unobstructed view of the sun splattered waters that spread out in shimmering emerald hues towards the southern horizon. Numerous water sports are offered for excitement which includes activities like para sailing, jet skiing and surfing.
For the landlubber crowd, there are courts for basketball and shuffle board as well as a pro quality miniature golf course. An indoor state of the arts Fitness Center and an outdoor playground for children is also available. Tasty frozen cocktails and delicious fresh seafood is served at the Tiki Bar and Grill which is conveniently located next to one of the pools beside the beach. Some guests enjoy buying some fresh locally caught seafood and beef for their own beach side surf n turf. You can create your own special family feast by using one of the personal grills near the pools. Umbrella tables nearby provide the perfect place to have a family picnic while enjoying the Gulf breeze and vista views beyond.
The Miramar Beach location is half way between Destin and The Beaches of South Walton which provides the best entertainment options around. You have the energetic nightlife of Destin as well as the laid back beauty of South Walton for your leisure. The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin and Grande Boulevard are right down the road with all their shops, bars and restaurants. Silver Sands, the largest Designer Factory Outlet in America, is only an arrow's shot away. This complex has over 100 design brand stores offering everything from clothing apparel to chocolates and attracts a huge amount of visitors per year.
Ocean Reef features Edgewater 205. This one bedroom, one bath condo is located on the ground level and has views across the meticulously manicured lawn towards the Gulf. It sleeps four with a king sized bed and a queen sized pull out sofa. Comfortably yet elegantly furnished, it has an open kitchen with a wrap around breakfast bar for two. A round, glass topped dining table seats four more. The tiled living area is done in soft, earth tone colors and looks out onto the covered patio and the Gulf.
On the seventh floor, Edgewater 711 is a two bedroom, two bath unit that also has a sofa pull out for extra guests. This condo is decorated in a chic, modern beach mode with lots of light, pastel nautical colors. The large bright, white kitchen has three cushioned, button topped bar stools next to the open counter top. A rectangular, glass topped dining room table nearby looks out into the living area complete with floor to ceiling ocean views.
Up three more floors, we offer Edgewater 1002 which also has two bedrooms and two baths. This condo looks like it might be located on the French Riviera itself since the decorative metal framed chairs around the glass topped dining table and other decor have a European look. An elegant, light salmon colored couch provides an element of sophistication and faces one of two private balconies. A gleaming, blue slate covered floor goes throughout all of the rooms. There is a comfortable king sized bed in the master suite that sits right next to the sliding glass door that leads to another balcony. A cool, triangular shaped guest bedroom has twin beds that are angled off the walls, which is a fun room for the kids or adults for that matter.
On the twelfth floor Edgewater 1207 is a deluxe terrace condo that has three bedrooms and three full baths. A large, adjacent open terrace juts out toward the Gulf which makes you feel like you have a luxury, "A" Class suite near the bow of the "SS Edgewater." Views here over the Gulf and down to the pools below are awesome. Rich beige colored, travertine marble floors go from room to room. Even the dark granite topped bar separating the kitchen and living area, is decorated on the side with diamond shaped inlays of polished stone. The large, multi-angled kitchen has lots of light; earth toned wood cabinets and stainless steel appliances. The Gulf front Master Suite has a big king sized bed, a private bath and easy access to the open terrace. Another big bedroom accommodates two queen sized beds with the third guest suite providing one more. This luxurious unit can sleep eight guests comfortably and each bedroom has their own bath.
