Paula Deen's Destin Eatery Now Open!

Who doesn't like to experience some good cooking when they are on a fun family vacation? After a very active day at the beach, playing in the surf and swimming with dolphins, you can get quite hungry. Are you craving some savory comfort food? Then you'll be happy to know that Paula Deen has just opened one of her sensational southern styled restaurants in Destin. It is appropriately located at Destin Commons, which has already been voted the most popular retail center in town. This picture perfect world adorned with tropical palms and interactive fountains spans across 52-acres to encompass almost 100 fashion specialty stores, other restaurants, bars, and a14 screen movie theater.

Paula Deen has become household name nationwide thanks to her 18 best selling cookbooks, a robust, friendly personality, an online presence, and her popular television Emmy award-winning appearances. This self-made wonder woman is centered in Savannah, Georgia where she got her start catering as "The Bag Lady" years ago which morphed into "The Lady and Sons" restaurant and has now established wonderful Paula Deen restaurants in six other places throughout the south. This restaurant in Destin will be her seventh. Paula Deen serves southern food at its best.

Destin Commons is thrilled to have her become a restaurant resident and issued the following statement:

"Paula Deen's team delivers quality food, service and ambiance at a great value so we're excited to have them here especially with occasional appearances by Paula Deen and their exhibition kitchen which is a replica of Paula Deen's kitchen in her home."

Paula Deen said she was looking forward to bringing her newest restaurant to fans in Florida and responded: "Together we will provide a truly memorable experience to folks who enjoy delicious Southern comfort food, Southern hospitality, and great entertainment."

The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 am till 4:00 pm for lunch and 4:00 pm till 10:00 pm for dinner. The restaurant also includes her retail store, which is open from 10:00 am till 10:00 pm to celebrate Savannah's rich cultural culinary heritage. It features popular Paula Deen cookbooks, her own line of cookware, helpful kitchen gadgets, and gourmet goodies.

Paula Deen's menu will make your mouth water, especially if you love great home cooked Southern-styled country meals. Both her lunch and dinner menus offer "Grandmamma Paul's Fried Green Tomatoes" with a roasted pepper sauce and sweet onion relish; "Flash Fried Okra" soaked in buttermilk then dredged in flour and "Shore is Good Seafood Dip" described as having a bubbling hot creaminess with shrimp and blue crab.

The Lunch and Dinner Menus feature the same "Down Home Dishes" as main entrees which include the following: "Best Ever Southern Fried Chicken" hand breaded with special seasonings; "Beef Pot Roast" 'lovingly' shredded and ladled over buttered rice; "Chicken Fried Pork Chop" coated with seasoned flour, fried till golden then drizzled with Southern Gravy completed with the pan drippings; "Ole Fashion Southern Meatloaf" covered in crispy tobacco onions; "Spare Ribs" a slow roasted fall off the bone rack of ribs with tangy barbeque sauce; "Chicken & Dumplings" tender pulled chicken and hand rolled dumplings simmered in savory gravy; "Georgia Fried Catfish" lightly fried with flour and yellow cornmeal and "Low Country Chicken" a Savannah coastal wetlands favorite which is a tender marinated chicken breast sautéed in a white wine sauce with shallots and mushrooms.

A selection of Sides for both meals includes: Baked Mac n Cheese; Black Eyed Peas; Buttered White Rice; Candied Yams; Cole Slaw; Collard Greens; Creamed Corn; Creamed Potatoes; Poppyseed Tossed Salad; Potato Salad and Squash Casserole. Southern Desserts for lunch and dinner include Ooey Gooey Butter Cake; Banana Pudding and Seasonal Cobbler which will feature peach, apple as well as blackberry.

Obviously, all these savory Southern-styled comfort food delights will make it difficult to choose from but here is where Paula Deen really gets great! She is renowned for providing "all you can eat" Southern Family Style Meals for both lunch and dinner. These hearty dishes are served to your group's table along with dessert and a selection of sides. They include "The Albany" which offers your choice of two Down Home Dishes served with your choice of three Sides along with "The Savannah" which includes three Down Home Dishes served with your choice of four Sides. The Lunch Menu costs $17.99 per person for the Albany and $19.99 for the Savannah. A kid's meal (5 thru 10) is $9.99. The Dinner Menu charges $21.99 for the Albany and $22.99 for the Savannah while the kid's meal is $10.99.
