American Airlines has announced a new daily nonstop route between Miami International Airport (MIA) and Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS)—a move that opens the door for new adventures, easier getaways, and a direct connection between two of Florida’s most iconic coastlines.

The addition of daily flights to Miami International Airport—American’s gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America—offers expanded access for Destin-area locals, whether you're heading south for a cruise, business trip, international flight, or a quick weekend in the city. The route provides seamless connections to more than 70 destinations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

American Airlines will operate the new route using dual-class Embraer 175 jets, designed for comfort and convenience.
- Depart MIA at 10:59 p.m. | Arrive VPS at 11:58 p.m.
- Depart VPS at 6:00 a.m. | Arrive MIA at 8:42 a.m.
The schedule was designed to maximize flexibility—making it easy to head to the beach for the weekend, return to Miami after a full day of fun, or connect internationally through MIA without the extra hassle.
Getting to Destin Is Easy with VPS
The new route lands at Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS)—a smaller, efficient regional airport located just 20–30 minutes from most Destin vacation rentals. Unlike larger, congested airports, VPS offers quick baggage claims, short lines, and an easy drive to the beach.
Whether you're headed to a luxury Gulf-front home or a resort-style condo, you can be checking in, unpacking, and relaxing with a drink in hand often within an hour of arrival.
VPS also offers rental car services, rideshare options, and direct access to Highway 98, the main coastal route through Destin and 30A.
