The original Vizcaya is a province in Spain and was immortalized when James Dearing, the heir to the Dearing McCormick International Harvester fortune, built a magnificent Mediterranean style mansion of the same name in Miami's Coconut Grove on Biscayne Bay in the 1920s. Our Dune Allen Beach version is an equally magnificent exclusively gated residential enclave off Scenic 30A in South Walton beside the shimmering sugar-white shoreline overlooking the jewel-toned Gulf of Mexico.
This excellent Vizcaya location serves as the western gateway to the privileged lifestyle found along this scenic route. The gorgeous setting is minutes away from picturesque coastal villages that feature outdoor concerts, seasonal festivals, dining establishments, specialty shops, and friendly beach bars. One of them known as Gulf Place serves as the Santa Rosa Beach village center and is only an arrow's shot away. Popular restaurants like The View on 30A and Stinky's Fish Camp are within walking distance. The View on 30A serves Caribbean style seafood with Gulf Coast flair and has heavenly views of the glowing shore. It is part of the Santa Rosa Beach Golf Club, which also is available for public play. Despite its strange, whimsical name, the rustic lakefront restaurant of Stinky's Fish Camp serves fantastic fresh-caught Gulf fish, all types of oysters, a wide array of craft beer and wine.
You have assuredly seen the enchanting walled- in residential community of Vizcaya if you've traveled along this lovely beach route. Its multimillion-dollar mansions, classic Mediterranean style architecture, alabaster white stucco exteriors, thick terracotta-tiled rooftops, and rows of palm trees are hard to miss. Many of them are beachfront, but a neighborhood walkway provides all residents and their guests with access to the beautiful private beach.
