The coastal dune lakes found along Scenic Highway 30A are a rare phenomenon. They appear in South Walton and only a handful of other places around the world, including the tropical oases of New Zealand and Madagascar. Dune Allen Beach happens to sit near three of these incredible lakes – Stallworth Lake, Oyster Lake, and Allen Lake. Bet you can guess which lake this quiet beach community is named after!
With a diverse environment made up of sand dunes, coastal dune lakes, forested nature trails, and the stunning crystal beach, Dune Allen is a must-visit when traveling to the Florida Panhandle. The coastal dune lakes provide the perfect setting for a day of fishing, paddle boarding, or capturing some photos. Oyster Lake even has a pedestrian bridge over the lake, so you can take a stroll while enjoying the view.
In addition to the dune lakes, Dune Allen is home to Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, which ranks as one of Florida's most treasured parks. Boasting over 1,600 acres, the park offers all kinds of wildlife exploration, including camping, paddling, hiking, birdwatching, and more. Of course, the beach is also only a hop, skip, and a splash away, making it a popular vacation spot for visitors. After all, who wouldn't want to book a stay at a beach house where they could not only see the beach, but almost feel the salty spray from a private, Gulf-front patio?
While Dune Allen Beach is a mostly residential community with a great deal of outdoor recreation options, it also offers access to shops, restaurants, bars, and coastal activities. Stinky's Fish Camp is a popular restaurant for its variety of delicious menu items, and the Vue on 30A's beachfront location has some of the best dinner views. Other nearby favorite shops, restaurants, festivals, and art galleries can be found at the Gulf Place Town Center.
There is so much fun to be had in this quaint community that it would be a shame to book a Gulf Coast vacation without considering it as a place to stay. Two new Dune Allen Beach vacation homes are available for rent, and we can't get over how perfect they are. Check them out – you better believe you'll be booking your vacation soon, if you do!
