One of the (many) interesting things about the Emerald Coast is watching how interior furnishings and décor change over time, creating the kind of vacation properties you might see featured in Coastal Living or House Beautiful magazine. This two-bedroom gulf front vacation rental in sought-after Crystal Beach of Destin just received a complete make-over resulting in a bright and wonderful look.
Emerald Dunes 205 already had a lot going for it, even before the renovations and refurnishing began. The two-bedroom residence can sleep eight happy gulf going guests in a low-density beachfront residential building that provides privileged living space. Emerald Dunes features stunning unlimited panoramic views of the "emerald" toned gulf from high upon the "dunes" above the crystalline white beach. This residence took full advantage of these jeweled vistas with a unique open concept plan which features a spacious alcove for the living area with a wide window. The adjoining dining area sits next to sliding glass balcony doors and another side window that also overlooks the sparkling seascape. The beachfront balcony beckons you to experience the scenery upfront while enjoying favorite drinks with tasty treats.
The Living Room
Originally the "Before" living area had bare hardwood flooring with one couch and an armchair facing a small flatscreen TV mounted up in a corner. The new "after" living area is far more inviting, with a light blue couch and love seat festooned with decorative pillows flanked by a white raised thread patterned cloth armchair. A fashionable Vintage Modern tri-stand metal floor lamp and a unique table lamp with a wood spiraled base sit next to the love seat on each side of the gulf view window. This comfortable seating ensemble around a plush white decorative vintage rug with black criss-cross patterns faces an extra-large wall-mounted flatscreen TV. It sits above a rustic hardwood bench that serves as a low side table topped with beachy décor.
The Dining Room
The gulf view dining area originally had a white table with simple Ladder-backed chairs painted in three different colors beneath a simple round flat cloth rimmed lighting fixture. Now it offers a coastal look that blends casual beach styling with elegance. A rustic dark hardwood-top dining table with a charming white shabby chic painted base includes six elegant cream-colored oval topped chairs. A tropical basket-like suspended dome provides lighting from above.
The Balcony
Sliding glass doors lead out to the beachfront balcony to experience views, listen to the soothing surf sounds, and enjoy time with loved ones while sipping upon favorite drinks. This area is now far more comfortable and inviting. It used to have two simple raised wooden Adirondack chairs and a table. Now it has one of these along with two big upscale rich straw woven framed chairs with deep white cushions for comfortable, relaxed seating.
The Kitchen
The open kitchen still features brushed stainless steel appliances with views of the glittering gulf across the dining area but has a totally different look. The almost drab-colored cabinets and the tile-sided counter bar with a brown mottled granite top have been replaced with bright white custom cabinetry. Matching powder-white octagonal tile backsplash, new shiplap around the sides of the counter bar, and gleaming countertops provide a bright light look. The simple suspended mini sconce lights above the bar have been replaced with two glowing brass light fixtures with large chic open elliptical frames.
The Master Suite
Before, Master Suite used to have a simple cottage-style look with pale floral patterned accents and a king-sized bed that faced a small flatscreen TV. Now it features a sophisticated coastal style look with tropical flair. The king-sized bed with a straw woven chocolate-colored headboard straddles a lovely decorative rug. It faces a sizeable wall-mounted Flatscreen TV for nighttime viewing pleasure. A gorgeous double door armoire nearby serves as a great accent piece with a rich blend of multi-toned hardwood. Sleek contemporary bedside tables each include fashionable brass stand Vintage Modern lamps with round white globes.
The Guest Suite
The original "Before" Guest Bedroom included beige walls with cottage-styled furnishings that included a king-sized bed facing a small flatscreen TV above a simple white chest. The new "After" Guest Bedroom has an urbane coastal-styled nautical look with a navy blue accent wall behind a rich herringbone-patterned hardwood headboard on a king-sized bed. Unique basket woven lamps are suspended above wooden bed stand side tables, each mounted on limbs of driftwood. An intricately patterned decorative rug in blues and whites brings the whole room together, while a large wall-mounted flatscreen TV provides entertainment.
The Bunk Nook
The Hall Bunk area, which includes bunks with two twin beds, has been freshened up with crisp white bedding and sea-inspired pillows. Inspirational individual signage on the bunks tells kids, "You are my Sunshine" and "This will be your Lucky Day."
The Hall Bathroom
The Guest Bedroom hall bath that doubles as a powder room has gone from a beige space with simple frosted sconce light fixtures decorated with colorful, cartoonish fish prints to a swank elegant space. It includes a royal blue-based cabinet crowned with a white sink vanity top, a round hanging porthole framed mirror, a trio of clear glass shade light fixtures above it, peg hooks displaying large decorative bath towels on the side, and lovely decorative prints.
Emerald Dunes still features the beautiful private beach and a swimming pool with a sun patio in the front of the building near grounds studded with clusters of tropical palm trees. The pool is seasonally heated, and a bubbling hot tub provides pampered relaxation whenever you desire its use. A grilling area near the beachside invites you to create fun 'Surf n Turf' meals while the salty air stimulates your appetite. This fantastic Crystal Beach location is also near grocery stores, alcohol purveyors, popular restaurants with bars that play live music, and fabulous shopping adventures.
